Well it is now 4:30 am. Just got around to writing now. We got there around 1:30am. Started prepping power, the router, and the rack for the move. When everything was prepped we powered down the 7507, and removed it from the rack along with its UPS. We then upgraded the power to handle the bigger routers power supplies, and put the new router and UPS in the rack. It was a very snug fit, we could not have planned it better. This part took maybe 10 minutes. The long part was connecting everything to the new router and creating the config. It seems if you run cisco's 'setup' command on the router when it has no cards in it to test it out it adds a line' no ip routing' to the config. This line disables all routing in the router. No one had ever seen this comand before. It seemed almost idiotical to have a router that doesnt route, but there it was staring us in the face 35 minutes into the job. We did away with that line which wasted 20 minutes of our time (thanks cisco), and traffic began to pump through again. We had everything back up and running in just under one hour. Not bad, but we could have done better. Next time we will examine the config more closley when there is one there already.

Well it is almost time to do some late night networking again. This time we are replacing our cisco 7507 router with a 7513 monster. Everything should go smoothly. I'll write after we are done at let you know how it went.

Last night I went to a party at a friends house... and as usual, good people, good fun... until I lost my cell phone. I must have dropped it when we went for a beer run. I couldn't find it when we were leaving so I left and went home hoping someone would find it. but then I just couldn't sit still without it.... my phone is like a part of me... I cant seem to survive without it.... so what did I do? well... at about 3am I went back.. and I'm glad I did.. no one would have found it where it was... I searched a pile of leaves where we had parked after we went and got beer.. and there it was.. wee!

in other news...

I also got a memory card for my gamecube yesterday! I called a local game store and the guy there said they had just gotten a shipment in and for me to call back in about 2 hours after they had unpacked to see if any came in. I called back and they did! I raced there and got it. So now I am able to save games. WOO!

in a related story...

I am very close to beating luigis mansion for the gamecube.. here are some hints for those who may have just gotten it...

always go back to rooms you have been to before that have vases and lights, these usually give you hearts or coins. So if you are about to fight a boss go get filled up first.

you can look in any mirror with your game boy horror and hit A and it will warp you back to the main entrance.

vacuum and touch everything... water every plant you see.. light every candle...

these three tips alone I think will help most people get very far in the game.

Well yesterday was thanksgiving and I ate so much I think I am still full.I had a good time hanging with some of my friends although I wish my other friends were there too. Oh well, you cant be everywhere at once.

I had written a post before I left to go eat yesterday but somehow it was lost.Most of yesterdays post was regarding toy/gaming stores and how they only ordered as many memory cards for the game cube as they ordered gamecubes. So what happens? They sell out of memory cards because people buy 2 and 3 of them with their gamecubes.So I go and buy a gamecube and now have to wait up to a week for a memory card so I can actually save a game. This same thing happened with the dreamcast when it came out. You would think they would have learned their lesson.

Apparently not.

Oh well, I will have a card soon so it isn't that major of a deal. Just something for all you store managers to think about for next time.

WOW! I really slacked off this time. It has been almost a month since I last posted. There has been much happening. Too much to write I think. I will try later perhaps to collect my thoughts and bring everyone up to date. For now, I am alive and well. Just wanted to let ya know. =]
