X-Hacker.org- FAST TEXT SEARCH for Clipper v.2.0 - third party products http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]
Third Party Products

Clipper has always had a lively aftermarket of third party products.
If you have a need, chances are there's a third party product to
satisfy it. FAST TEXT SEARCH for Clipper works with all of the popular
add-on products. We encourage you, however, to contact us if you
experience any difficulties.

FLEXFILE / dBxStore

Because one of the most popular uses of CFTS is to search the contents
of memo (.DBT) fields, its use with memo field replacement systems is
extremely powerful. These systems are easy to use and not only remove
some of the problems native to the .DBT file format, but add a wide
variety of new features.

FLEXFILE, from Ganahl Software, Inc., is a complete memo file
replacement system. It uses standard memo field and command syntax.
The new FLEXFILE II also comes as an RDD. dBxStore, distributed by
HalloGRAM Publishing, is another memo field alternative that works
very well with CFTS. It eliminates the file bloat problems associated
with regular memo fields. dBxStore is written in assembler for faster
reads, writes and compression.

iQuery / SubNtx()

Moon Microsystems has two products that work well with CFTS. iQuery
manipulates index separately from database files. It offers fast
creation and resorting of conditional indexes. SubNtx() creates
conditional indexes by reading from an existing index. It allows match
by range, wildcard or a Clipper UDF. These systems can be used to
create a Clipper index containing only those records that result from
a FTS search. This provides a very functional method for accessing the
original records.
