X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

Each of the buttons displayed in the Maintenance environment will be
described in the following paragraph: Move, Zoom and Remove
   completely.

Moving a menu label

The activation of the Move button allows to move one of the menu
labels to a different location. If the selected label has sub-levels, they
will also be moved. The labels below the one moved will be automatically
   renumbered.

When moving a label of type 'label' (highlighted by the triangular
symbol on its left) onto another label having the same type, the system
will ask if the label is to be inserted at the same level or at a lower
level, thus becoming in fact a submenu itself.

In other cases, the labels are inserted at the same level of the label on
   which they are moved.

To execute the movement, do the following:

. From the main level of the dBsee menu activate the
       Application environment.

     . Press the Maintenance button.

. Highlight the menu label that is to be moved.

     . Press the Move button.

. Bring the cursor into the new position and press Enter
to confirm the movement. If the cursor is positioned on the label that
has the 'label' identifier, the system asks if it is to be
repositioned at the same level or at a lower level. Select the mode
       desired.

Zoom function

The Zoom button collapses and expands menu labels that have associated
submenus, making it possible to have a summarised view of the menu during
the maintenance phase. This option can be used on the main labels and on
the labels that access sub-menus (which are the ones with the triangle
   identifier).

A collapsed menu branch will be shown with two opposite triangular symbols
   on the left side.

To collapse or expand menu branches proceed as follows:

. Position the cursor highlight on the menu label whose
sub-levels are to be temporarily hidden and press the Zoom button.
The menu branch will collapse into the main label with the two
       triangular symbols at the left.

. To expand the menu branch (reopen the hidden labels) press
Zoom again on the collapsed label.

Removing menu labels

dBsee allows two modes for removing menu labels. The first mode is the
hard way: the menu label is completely removed from the project and can
not be recovered. The second mode is not permanent, and does only hide the
label to the generated application. In this way the label still exists in
the development phase, but does absolutely not exist in the final program.

The Remove completely button allows to remove a menu label in the
first mode. Note, that is it not possible to remove a menu label that has
   a sub-menu associated to it.

By pressing the Del key on one of the menu labels, the second mode is
executed. The menu label is deactivated, and, in the generation phase, not
generated. The Ins key allows to reactivate the label temporarily
   deactivated.

Attention - The definitive removal of a menu label, associated to a
data entry or report management, will also mean the deletion of all the
objects that make up the management.

   To remove a label definitively:

. Press the button Remove completely.

     . Confirm the definitive deletion.

The labels below the one removed will be automatically renumbered.
