X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

The function of a data entry object is to create, modify and delete data
in the file on which the object is to operate. The interaction with the
master file (the one associated to the object) is implicit in the
   definition of the object itself.

During the update operations on the master file (thus writing any changes
to disk), dBsee allows to access other files for eventual Replace and
Append operations. These operations are called, in dBsee,
   Transactions.

Transactions are a group of update operations made by the object on files
different from the master file. A transaction is useful when the
modifications made on the data contained in one file must be carried into
   other files of the database.

   Two types of transactions exist:

   1. Replace

   2. Append

To both of the transaction types, a Activation condition can be
applied. This expression, if evaluating to False (.F.), allows for
setting a condition that will prevent the system from processing the
transaction. In order to set this condition, select the transaction and
   press Ctrl-Enter.
