X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

This chapter will examine the design phase of the objects that make up a
data entry or report management system.

dBsee 4 allows to develop applications that have the CUA user interface.
The acronym CUA stands for Common User Access; common
   interface for the user.

The CUA guidelines provide information about how the model on which a
product is based should be conveyed to a user. The CUA guidelines also
include specific details about designing and developing software and user
   interfaces.

As a result, users of products with a CUA user interface should find the
product satisfying to use, efficient, and appropriate for the tasks that
   the user wants to accomplish.

dBsee 4 allows to automatically obtain applications that have the
"mandatory" characteristics of the interface and that offer a group of
pre-defined elements that can be used to define all the other components.
These elements can be used in the design phase of the objects that make up
   the application.

In the paragraph entitled "Working in Design", suggestions are given on
how to use the elements that dBsee4 offers for creating of a
user-friendly interface. Since the emphasis is put on the definition of
the interface, the problems relative to the Design of the Form objects
   will be highlighted mainly.

The rest of the chapter is organised as follows:

. The second part is relative to the Design of the objects
that make up the data entry system. The Control types available for
       these systems will be examined.

. The third part is relative to the Design of the objects that
make up the report system. The available Controls will also be
       examined in this part.

. The fourth part will describe the functionalities available
in the Design mode of the data entry and report objects.
