X-Hacker.org- TSDWIN: Clipper 5.0 Interface Library - <b>future prospects:</b> http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]
     Future Prospects:
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 1.50 is the end result of the current development cycle
for TSDWIN. A new interface library will be released late in 1992
and will include a new window handling scheme and classes. At
present, it is our intention to make the new version compatible
with TSDWIN V1.50 as far as is possible. The use of classes will
be available, but we will continue to include pure function call
capability, if only for speed. Although we realize the importance
and challenge of fast and consistent methods of program
development, we feel that not all end users will be willing to
invest right away in new hardware which will provide the speed
necessary to keep up with re-useable programming styles. We feel
the programmer should continue to have tools at his/her disposal
which will allow him/her to develop software designed with the
client in mind. While TSDWIN does allow you to totally configure
your own software environment, it does make it easy to produce
     easily maintainable, re-useable code.

The first release of TSDWIN promised a Dialog Class with version
1.50. It is now our opinion that any dialog system may be
constructed to the programmer's specifications with TSDWIN V1.50,
therefore we are not including a comprehensive dialog class with
     this version.

The author and other software developers are now considering
business and development relationships to investigate the
possibility of releasing a grahics based version of TSDWIN.
Graphics and object-orientation will be prime concerns of ours in
     the coming months.

We will try to maintain our original promise to provide flexible,
easy to use software for Clipper programmers which will enable
them to take advantage of the many facets of Clipper with the
     lowest possible relearning time.

All TSDWIN users are encouraged to participate in the support
areas we have set up in the US and Canada. Plans are underway to
provide support in Europe and Australia. Beta testers are always
welcome and applications for beta status should be addressed to
     the author.
