X-Hacker.org- Warplink version 2.6 - /xt use extended memory (xms) during link. http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]
/xt Use extended memory (XMS) during link.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Description:

The /xt option stashes the overlay file and the temporary file (if any) in
extended memory at linktime, assuming an XMS driver is present. This
will speed up link time significantly.

WarpLink uses the stash order for the /xt option that is consistent with
link speed priority. Stashing the overlay file typically speeds link times
more than stashing the temporary file and takes precedence if both will
not fit into extended memory. If the overlay file will not fit into extended memory, but the temporary file will, then the temporary file
will be stashed.

If you have a dual XMS and EMS driver, such as QEMM or 386-Max,
you should select the /xt option instead of the /xp option in lower free
EMS/XMS memory circumstances. This will make the most efficient
use of your memory configuration.

It is possible to use both the /xp and /xt options simultaneously, with
WarpLink giving preference for stashing the temporary and overlay file
to XMS. Be cautioned that if you have a dual EMS/XMS driver,
WarpLink will take all free memory through the /xp option and leave no
free memory to the /xt option, effectively negating its use. You need
separate EMS and XMS allocations to use both the /xp and /xt options to
any effect for the /xt option.

Technical Note:

You can use both /xp and /xt options simultaneously by using a dual
EMS and XMS driver (such as QEMM or 386-Max). However, it is
recommended that the /xt option be used alone, because it is usually
slightly faster.
