X-Hacker.org- dBsee 4.6 - The Library - Norton Guide http://www.X-Hacker.org [<<Previous Entry] [^^Up^^] [Next Entry>>] [Menu] [About The Guide]

A status bar is present in the lower part of the screen allowing the
user to have a contextual help that refers to the cursor position.

The text string that is shown in the status is set by the programmer in
the definition frame of the element (control or menu label), in the
   Message or Description parameter.

The right part of the status bar is occupied by four icons, useable only
by the mouse. These icons form the counterpart of the Confirm/Accept
keys (OK icon), of the Help key (HLP icon), the Help on keys
function (KEY icon) and the Abort/Close keys (ESC icon).

The objects containing data or other information use controls to display
them. All CUA controls are provided: Text boxes, fonts, Radio buttons,
Check boxes, List boxes, Combo boxes, Pushbuttons, etc.

Radio buttons, Check Boxes and Spin buttons are controls used
for displaying fields contents in a more intuitive way than a line entry
field (Get). Clicking with the mouse will allow to easily select among the
   vailable values.

The Radio buttons are used for selecting one value out of a set. The
desired value is selected using the Space Bar.

The Check box displays a field with only two states available (on or
off). The check mark is set/removed using the Space Bar.

The Spin button displays a value out of a ring of options. The
available choices are selected using the up and down icons. It can also be
used for incrementing or decrementing the displayed value with a prefixed
   step.

The List box control is used for displaying data in a table format.
The user can navigate through the various rows and columns displayed. List
boxes are used for creating pick-lists for data searching and Browses in
   1:N relations.

The Combo box is composed of a line entry field and an associated List
box with the possible values. Combo boxes are often used for data entry,
where the user can (optionally) select from a list of choices.

The Text box is used for entering free format text (like Memo fields).
The control is entered into edit mode by pressing the Space Bar.
