Pressing the F7 key, the system will present a little frame, in the
upper part of the screen, containing the search keys.

This frame can be moved on screen by using the Alt and the cursor
   keys.

Pressing a second time F7, or by clicking on the arrow icon that links
the two windows, a picklist is displayed for selecting the data to enter
in the search key. The data is ordered according to the key selected.

Example:

   Selection of a key

Pressing F7, the frame containing all the search keys available on the
   file, is displayed:

In the data entry field, the user can type (a part) of the key to search
   for.

Active keys

   Shift-F1 Show active keys list.

F7 Open picklist on file, ordering the data according
                           to the selected key.

Ctrl-F7 Search keys on lookup file.

F8 Sequential search for contents ($).
For instance, if a company's name is 'RELATIVE
COMPUTING', but you only remember a part of its
name, let's say 'COMP', just enter that part in
the entry field and press F8. The system will
sequentially scan the file and display all the
companies that have a name containing 'COMP'.

Ctrl-F8 Interactively build a filter expression. This
function, available as a dBsee library function
(see Norton Guides) allows for building a query
filter condition, using whatever field of the
                           file.

Example:

All customers displayed must have the age between 20 and 45 years. This
option is not available directly in the Search Keys, but using the
Ctrl-F8 key, this criterion can be set easily.

Enter Accept the key entered and search the
                           corresponding record.

Esc Abort the search keys system.
